If you are continuing to drink alcohol and/or use drugs in spite of it having a negative impact on your life, in the very least, you have a substance abuse problem. If you’re finding that you just can’t stop, you have an addiction problem, and need help from a reputable team of professionals, like those found at DARA Drug and Alcohol Rehab. It may also be the case you’ve developed a physical dependency on alcohol or other drugs, whatever the case may be. Physical dependency will cause withdrawal symptoms when you suddenly stop using after prolonged use. Alcoholism is the term used for having developed a tolerance and physical dependency on alcohol. For most, alcohol or drug rehab is the life-changing, and often life-saving, solution.
The clinical diagnostic criterion for alcoholism is having experienced at least three of the following within the same 12-month period:
- Tolerance: A need for more and more amounts of alcohol to get intoxicated
- Withdrawal: Getting withdrawal symptoms when suddenly stopping drinking after prolonged and heavy alcohol use: e.g., tremors, nausea, sweating, and shakiness
- Alcohol is often taken in larger amounts or over a longer period of time than was intended
- Unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control alcohol use
- A lot of time is spent in activities to obtain alcohol, use alcohol or recover from its effects
- Important social, occupational, or recreational activities are given up or reduced because of alcohol use
- Alcohol use is continued despite persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problems most likely caused or exacerbated by the alcohol
Why Choose DARA Drug and Alcohol Rehab Residential Rehabilitation Center
Whether the extent of your problem is drug abuse or alcohol abuse, or a drug dependence or alcohol dependence (alcoholism), rehab can help. There are two main types of alcohol and drug rehab programs you can choose from: Inpatient (residential) and Outpatient programs. Please read about Inpatient vs. Outpatient rehabilitation on our Make a Decision for Rehab page. In either case, professionals are able to provide you with knowledge, skills, and abilities for living a life clean and sober. However, of course, you’ll want to make sure the program you choose to go to is a good one, and that you choose the right setting for your situation, i.e., a residential program or an outpatient program.
While there are alcohol and drug abuse rehabilitation facilities in the Philippines, none match the overall quality of DARA Drug and Alcohol.
